Mission statement

Third­Cer­tain­ty is an edi­to­ri­al­ly inde­pen­dent news site devot­ed to enlight­en­ing busi­ness­es and indi­vid­u­als about emerg­ing pri­va­cy and secu­ri­ty risks. Our mis­sion is to help indi­vid­u­als, busi­ness own­ers and orga­ni­za­tion­al lead­ers bet­ter under­stand emerg­ing expo­sures and make more informed deci­sions about per­son­al behav­iors and cor­po­rate policies.


Editorial thrust

Third­Cer­tain­ty is a venue where lead­ing experts and key stake­hold­ers are invit­ed to engage in intel­li­gent dis­course for the greater good. Our cov­er­age will touch on issues of con­cern and high­light best prac­tices that are of inter­est to con­sumers, small busi­ness­es and large orga­ni­za­tions. ThirdCertainty’s break­ing news sto­ries and analy­sis pieces, guest essays, Q&A columns and videos will strive to be cogent, bal­anced and fair.

Edi­tor-In-Chief Byron Aco­hi­do directs all edi­to­r­i­al activ­i­ties. Aco­hi­do is one of the nation’s most respect­ed inves­tiga­tive jour­nal­ists. Among numer­ous nation­al jour­nal­ism awards, he earned the 1997 Pulitzer Prize for Beat Report­ing for his sto­ries in the Seat­tle Times that uncov­ered a dead­ly rud­der flaw in Boe­ing 737 jet­lin­ers. More recent­ly he has been wide­ly rec­og­nized by top jour­nal­ism orga­ni­za­tions for his body of work at USA Today chron­i­cling the rise of cyber­crime and demise of per­son­al privacy.



Third­Cer­tain­ty is ful­ly under­writ­ten by Cyber­Scout, for­mer­ly IDT911. Cyber­Scout is a  pri­vate­ly-held con­sul­ta­tive provider of iden­ti­ty and data risk man­age­ment, res­o­lu­tion, and edu­ca­tion ser­vices. Con­sumer advo­cate Adam K. Levin– the for­mer Direc­tor of the New Jer­sey Depart­ment of Con­sumer Affairs – is the Chair­man and Co-founder of IDT911. Third­Cer­tain­ty wel­comes sug­ges­tions for sto­ries and guest essays.
